The Biomedical Centre is a research institute of the Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Pilsen with a close connection to the University Hospital Pilsen. The construction of the centre was financed by EU funds – Operational Programme Research and Development for Innovation. The centre was inaugurated on 17 October 2014.
Research here focuses on infectious diseases (sepsis, antibiotic resistance of bacteria, prophylaxis of viral infection in transplantology), oncological issues in connection with experimental surgery, biocompatibility of materials, stem cells, neurodegenerative diseases and reproductive medicine.

Research teams of the Biomedical Centre collaborate on research projects with other institutions in the Czech Republic and worldwide. Undergraduate and postgraduate students can also use the facilities and knowledge of the researchers for their research.
